I always thought it was a strictly British thing to talk about holidays this way - relieving to hear its not just us! I think people do it to temper the excitement of their holidays/experiences so it doesn't feel like you're bragging about it all?? My parents HATE when I do this, so no idea where I've learnt it from! 😂
