I'm not positive I've ever seen the whole thing from start to finish! I'll look on streaming. Footloose still rips for everyone when it comes on at weddings and socials.

I watched it on Paramount+ - and you're right about the theme song. It holds up!

I’m with Holly, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the entire movie from start to finish! I remember seeing it playing in rooms across campus during college, and always laughing at some of the songs and how everyone in the movie was dancing. I never knew the meaning of the movie until several years later of course. The soundtrack definitely holds up though. What I noticed when reading this today is that the movie was released on my dad’s birthday, and I was just 7 years old at the time. So I wonder if my parents saw the movie and if they know the story behind it.

Beth, have you heard of or seen the movie “Shag”? Very similar story. I won’t say anything in case you haven’t seen it yet, but it’s one of my favorites and definitely worth watching!

Thanks, Kim. Like you, I was too young to see it in the theatre - but remember it playing on TV during the weekend afternoons (like so many movies of that era). Of course, those were the edited for TV versions!

And I have seen Shag - Phoebe Cates and Annabeth Gish and Bridget Fonda come to mind. But that's another one I saw on video a loooooooong time ago, so please don't quiz me on the plot! :)
