I really think if Taylor Swift pulled from Ticketmaster, people would follow. She has the kind of following to really make a difference. I’m grateful the last time I saw her I paid $75 per ticket πŸ˜…

It’s interesting to see how Ticketmaster continues to monopolize even 30 years later & gets away with it. Just one of the many greedy corporations continuing to drain the working class πŸ˜”

Thanks, Ally. Lucky you seeing Taylor for $75!

You're right that she has a lot of pull. Imagine if she got Beyonce, Bruce, and Harry Styles to join her! But another thing I found in my research (but didn't include in the story) was how much Ticketmaster spends on lobbyists. I'm curious what the government will decide this time.

The thing I loved about Pearl Jam was their recognition that fans didn't have money for ridiculously expensive tickets. Often, the biggest fans tend not to be the ones with thousands of dollars to pay for tickets, and Pearl Jam recognized that their fans were the ones who made them.

No one should go broke to see a concert. Especially after Beyonce told us all to quit our jobs last year! ;-)

Thanks for reading!

I do feel very fortunate to have seen her for $75 but have also paid SO much to see her another time. πŸ˜‚ You’re right about Pearl Jam and unfortunately they then had to decide between their career and going back to Ticketmaster. Very cool of them to recognize & take a pay cut compared to other artists in the name of their fans!! You don’t see that anymore.

You’re right, Ally. I’d love to see more artists set prices that allow all kinds of fans to attend (and for Ticketmaster to ditch their greedy β€œpriority seat” prices. $1000/Β£1000 + for a ticket in the nosebleed section is just crazy.

PS - How were the Taylor shows?

They were REALLY incredible. I saw her in 2015 and in 2018 and loved them both! Such theatrics without being tacky, lots of emotion but remaining upbeat. I’m not as big a fan as I used to be but still two of the most thought out and fun concerts I’ve ever been to!
